Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Holiday Parade have been around for a short while now, yet remain unsigned (releasing their music through iTunes). This EP alone begs the question "why?". Focused on the Rock/Pop genre, they have a large myspace (http://www.myspace.com/holidayparade) and facebook (http://www.facebook.com/HolidayParade) following. A must for fans of The Audition and My Favorite Highway, and anybody who appreciates a strong combination of mild originality and good music (and @ £3.95GBP you can't really go wrong anyhow!).
Comprising of 5 tracks, this EP offers a good introduction to the band.
Crimson Red: A great opening track. You instantly realise the talent the band has and the dynamic they have together. Vocals are outstandingly clear, and the sound levels are well balanced (a rare occurence even within the popular music industry!). This track is catchy, and forces you to tap your foot along, whether you want to or not!
Never Enough: Much quicker and bouncier than the previous track, but still flows seemlessly. This track develops the EP into a display case of Holiday Parade's range of style and originality.
My Philosophy: Summer anthem-esque. An ultimate feel good tune (despite some of the lyrics) that makes you want to turn up the volume and sing-along. Speedy lyric delivery similar to Never Enough.
Walking By: Slows the EP down, but by no means in a negative way. Much more involving, this track carries more emotional weight than the previous tracks, and as such feels much more personal to the band. The must listen to track of the EP in my opinion.
Driving Away: Different again, and almost bare in sound to begin with, this track develops into a strong finish for the EP. Another example of speedy lyric delivery, but ones the listener can associate with, Driving Away connects in the same way as the previous track, whilst providing a reason to come back and listen to the whole EP again.
*Being my first ever blog, this isn't exactly as good as I wanted it to be, I have a lot to work on in terms of my writing style and music description. I hope that with time and practice this will develop and I can come back and review this EP in the way in which it deserves. For now, I hope this gives you a good starting point, and that you might atleast sample the band.*
